A woman in her 40s has been placed under emergency hospitalization after obstructing police officers by ramming a patrol car during a one-hour standoff with her young child inside the vehicle.
The Icheon Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced that it had arrested the woman, identified as A, on charges of special obstruction of official duty and placed her under emergency hospitalization.
A is accused of refusing to comply with police orders to stop and ramming a patrol car while driving with her 8-year-old daughter, B, on a road in Bubal-eup, Icheon, at approximately 1:40 p.m. yesterday (July 12).
Prior to the incident, A had been driving with B after an argument with her husband. The husband had reported the situation to the police, stating, "My wife left with our child, and I am worried (about an accident)."
Upon arriving at the scene, police located A and ordered her to stop the vehicle. When she refused, they blocked her path with patrol cars from the front and rear.
It is reported that A, trapped in the situation, repeatedly drove forward and backward, striking the patrol cars multiple times.
After a standoff lasting about an hour, police broke the car window and apprehended A when she refused to comply with demands to exit the vehicle.
