Gyeonggi Province Reports 20 Heat-Related Illnesses in Single Day, Highest This Year

As heat wave warnings continue across Gyeonggi Province, 20 people have been reported to have suffered from heat-related illnesses in a single day.
According to Gyeonggi Province on the 13th, a total of 20 heat-related illness cases were recorded in the province on the 11th.
This is the highest number since the tracking of heat-related illnesses began on May 15. The previous daily record was 9 cases, which occurred on July 7 and June 19.
By city and county, there were 3 cases in Pyeongtaek, 2 each in Yangpyeong and Yongin, and 1 each in 13 other cities and counties, including Suwon and Bucheon.
The number of heat-related illness patients is compiled based on reports from 93 medical institutions operating emergency rooms within Gyeonggi Province.
The cumulative number of heat-related illness patients in the province this year has reached 146, the highest in the country.
Nationwide, a total of 636 heat-related illness cases have been reported.
Gyeonggi Province has activated the first stage of its Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters to prepare for heat wave damage.
Under the first stage of emergency operations, 14 personnel across 6 teams are working alongside 404 city and county officials to manage the situation and respond promptly.
With heat wave warnings continuing across Gyeonggi Province for the second consecutive day since the 12th, heat wave warnings are in effect for 15 cities and counties, including Osan and Pyeongtaek, while heat wave advisories have been issued for 16 cities and counties, including Gwangmyeong and Gwacheon.
