The bereaved family of the late Lee Chae-won, a victim in the Jang Yoon-gi case, along with civic groups, stated today (July 13) that "a fact-finding investigation must be conducted to uncover the objective truth of the case." Holding a press conference this morning (July 13) in front of the Gwangju District Court in Dong-gu, Gwangju, South Jeolla Province, where the second trial of Jang Yoon-gi—who is charged with rape and murder—was held, they declared, "As public trust in the fairness and objectivity of the investigation is wavering, we urge a thorough and full re-investigation based on the newly revealed facts."
Lee Chae-won's mother, who attended the press conference, pleaded, "If the trial is proceeding based on distorted and covered-up investigation results, can our child's injustice truly be brought to light?" She added, "I want to ask the police: Was protecting your organization more important than the injustice suffered by our child?"
We will provide further details in the video.
