A person in their 30s who fled after stealing jewelry from a store in Jeonju, Jeonbuk, earlier this year has been arrested in South Chungcheong Province after six months on the run.

The Jeonju Wansan Police Station announced today (July 13) that they are investigating an individual in their 30s, identified as A, on charges including theft.

A is accused of stealing a gold necklace worth 20 million won from a jewelry store in Pyeonghwa-dong, Wansan-gu, Jeonju, at 2 p.m. on January 25.

The suspect deceived the store owner by pretending to be interested in purchasing the gold necklace, then fled the store with the item.

A had been living without a fixed residence or traceable lifestyle while on the run, but was recently arrested by police in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, for committing another crime.

It was determined that the suspect sold the stolen gold necklace and used the proceeds for gambling.

A police official stated, "We secured the suspect on the 11th and are investigating the details of the case," adding, "We are currently reviewing whether to request an arrest warrant."
