A terrifying accident occurred in the city center of Rize, Turkey, where a road suddenly gave way.

CCTV footage from the time vividly captured the moment the cracked road crumbled. Fortunately, there were no vehicles or pedestrians passing by at the time, and no casualties were reported.

The accident is believed to have been caused by the weakening of the ground following the collapse of a retaining wall near a construction site.

Authorities, concerned about the possibility of further collapses, have taken safety measures, including the emergency evacuation of residents from two apartment buildings located above the road.
