Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on the 12th (local time) that he plans to reshuffle his cabinet, citing the need for a "new political strategy."
On X (formerly Twitter), President Zelenskyy stated, "Ukraine is changing its political strategy," adding, "Personnel changes will begin to ensure the implementation of this new political strategy."
He continued, "I have discussed the details with Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, and we have reached a consensus that these changes require a cabinet reshuffle."
President Zelenskyy hinted that the Prime Minister is also subject to replacement, stating that he has offered Svyrydenko the opportunity to lead a critical area in relations with "key partners."
He also stated plans to replace the heads of law enforcement agencies.
Prime Minister Svyrydenko also formalized her resignation in a separate post on X, saying, "I am proud to have been able to lead the government during some of the most difficult times in Ukraine's modern history."
In relation to this, local media outlet Ukrainska Pravda reported that CEO Koretskyi, Minister Shmyhal, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, and Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov are among the candidates being considered for the new Prime Minister.
Regarding the direction of the cabinet reshuffle, President Zelenskyy explained, "Each priority area of foreign policy will be entrusted to individuals with extensive experience who can realize the matters agreed upon at the leadership level and the expectations of the Ukrainian people."
He particularly emphasized that security cooperation with countries such as the United States is of the utmost importance, including the licensed production of Patriot air defense missile systems within Ukraine, which was recently authorized by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Domestically, he expressed expectations for strengthening activities in frontline and border regions under attack by Russian forces and expanding the supply of weapons such as various drones, adding that the restructuring of state-owned enterprises must be accelerated in preparation for the winter season.
President Zelenskyy released a series of photos and details from meetings with Serhiy Koretskyi, CEO of the state-owned energy company Naftogaz, Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal, and Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, signaling that they are among those subject to the personnel changes.
