The relentless heat is continuing day and night.
Seoul has experienced its first tropical night of the year.
With heat wave advisories covering most parts of the country, the first-ever severe heat wave warning has been issued for Pohang and Gyeongsan.
This is the highest level of alert issued since the heat wave advisory system was implemented in 2008.
Pohang and Gyeongsan have recorded perceived temperatures of 35°C (95°F) or higher for two consecutive days, and the warning was issued as perceived temperatures are expected to exceed 38°C (100°F) today, with highs reaching nearly 39°C (102°F).
Because this heat goes beyond a simple heat wave and can be life-threatening, it is crucial to prioritize your health by minimizing outdoor activities as much as possible.
Today, July 12, there will be occasional heavy showers, mainly in the central inland regions.
Rain is expected to continue until tomorrow in the Jeonnam, western Gyeongnam, and Jeju regions.
The ultraviolet index will rise to a very high level during the day.
In the Jeju region, where a strong wind advisory is in effect, high winds are expected to persist until tonight.
Rain is forecast for the entire country on Tuesday and Wednesday.
