A five-vehicle pileup involving two sedans, two SUVs, and one van occurred inside the Godeok Tunnel on the Sejong-Pocheon Expressway in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province, heading toward Pocheon, at approximately 2:20 p.m. today.

As a result of the accident, a man in his 60s, identified as A, who was an occupant of a K5 sedan, was transported to a nearby hospital in a state of cardiac arrest.

Eight other drivers and passengers from the involved vehicles sustained minor injuries and are currently receiving treatment.

The accident occurred today when a Trajet van traveling in the first lane rear-ended a K5 sedan ahead of it.

The impact of the initial collision led to a multi-vehicle pileup as other cars traveling in front of and behind the two vehicles were struck in succession.

Lanes 1 and 2 near the accident site were temporarily closed for cleanup, but all lanes have since been reopened.

Police are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
