The special investigation unit will consist of 41 members, an increase of 14 from the previous 27, and Oh Dong-wook, the head of the investigation department at the Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency, has been appointed as the unit chief.
The police emphasized, "In addition to the existing personnel from the National Office of Investigation's Serious Crime Investigation Division, we have added staff from the secondary victimization investigation team and the Digital Forensic Center," adding, "We will conduct a thorough investigation to ensure there are no suspicions regarding the entire investigative process."
The police are accelerating their investigation by conducting searches and seizures at seven locations, including the office of the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency Commissioner, on the morning of July 11 to determine whether there was any improper intervention by superiors during the investigation into Jang Yoon-gi.
