Elon Musk has boasted that his aerospace company, SpaceX, will eventually hold a value greater than that of the entire Earth.
According to the financial weekly Barron's, Musk stated on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that "if we achieve our goals, the value of SpaceX will be greater than everything else on Earth combined."
Prior to this, in a radio interview, he also revealed a specific goal of sending tens of thousands of people to a lunar base within the next 10 years.
To achieve this, he plans to send astronauts to the moon within two to three years and expand operations from there, eventually allowing any private citizen who wishes to travel to the moon and Mars.
"We will build a self-sustaining city on the moon, like a metropolis," Musk said, expressing his expectation that people could permanently relocate to or take vacations in that city.
Musk is known for frequently making such bold projections.
In 2022, he claimed that his electric vehicle company, Tesla, could become more valuable than Apple and Aramco combined.
At the time, the combined market capitalization of the two companies was 4.4 trillion dollars, or approximately 6,600 trillion won.
However, four years later, Tesla's corporate value stands at 1.8 trillion dollars, falling short of the figure Musk had suggested.
Meanwhile, valuations for SpaceX, which has settled into the U.S. stock market following the largest initial public offering in history, are being released one after another.
Morgan Stanley projected that even under a pessimistic scenario where SpaceX's super-heavy reusable rocket, Starship, does not become fully operational by 2029, the share price would fall to 75 dollars.
Under an optimistic scenario, they suggested a share price of 600 dollars, with a target price of 300 dollars.
On the other hand, Citi projected a share price of 900 dollars under an optimistic scenario, valuing the company at 12 trillion dollars, or approximately 18,000 trillion won.
Financial data provider FactSet reported that the average target price from analysts is 240 dollars per share.
They projected that revenue would exceed 630 billion dollars by 2031, with operating profit surpassing 340 billion dollars in the same year.
