A man has been arrested for threatening his girlfriend with a weapon during an argument.
Judge Kang Young-hoon, in charge of warrant proceedings at the Seoul Northern District Court, issued an arrest warrant for a man in his 20s, surnamed Hong, who is facing charges of special intimidation, after conducting a pre-arrest interrogation (warrant review) today (July 10). The court stated there is a risk of the suspect destroying evidence or fleeing.
Hong is accused of threatening his girlfriend with a weapon at a villa in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, at approximately 1:30 a.m. yesterday (July 9).
The argument reportedly began after the girlfriend discovered photos of another woman on Hong's mobile phone and confronted him about them, leading Hong to brandish the weapon.
Police arrived at the scene after receiving a report stating, "My boyfriend has a weapon and is trying to kill me," and arrested Hong in the act.
Meanwhile, it was discovered that Hong is currently standing trial at the same court on charges of violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles against Sexual Abuse.
