As the rain clouds clear, the heat wave is immediately making its presence felt.
Heat wave advisories have been issued for most regions, with heat wave warnings in effect for parts of the Yeongnam region. Sweltering heat is expected to begin in earnest starting this weekend.
Tomorrow, July 11, the morning temperature in Seoul is expected to reach 25°C (77°F), making it highly likely that the city will experience its first tropical night of the year. During the day, the perceived temperature will climb to 34°C (93°F), creating stifling heat.
Meanwhile, please be aware that sporadic, intense showers may continue in various areas until this evening, and until tonight in the inland regions of Gangwon Province.
Tomorrow morning, the temperature in Gangneung, where a tropical night advisory is currently in effect, will be 26°C (79°F), remaining muggy throughout the night.
Daytime temperatures will soar to 35°C (95°F) in Daegu and 37°C (99°F) in Pohang, bringing mid-summer heat to the Yeongnam region.
For the time being, the monsoon rain will enter a lull, and cloudy weather is expected to continue.
Rain is forecast to return nationwide around next Wednesday.
