A labor union has been officially launched at Shinsegae I&C, an IT services company under Shinsegae Group.

The union announced today (July 10) that it received its establishment certificate from the Gangnam-gu Office on the 8th and has officially begun its activities.

Since its founding in 1997, Shinsegae I&C has been responsible for Shinsegae Group's IT competitiveness, growing in various fields such as system integration, IT services, and retail tech.

However, the IT industry is currently facing intensified competition to secure specialized talent, and continuous brain drain and job insecurity have emerged as significant challenges affecting corporate competitiveness.

In this environment, the union stated that its role is to create a work environment where members can stably demonstrate their capabilities and to enhance the company's technological competitiveness in the long term.

In its inaugural declaration, the union stated, "The labor union is not an organization meant to shake the company, but one to help set it on the right path," adding, "The future of the members depends on the growth of the company, and the company can become stronger when its members are respected."

The union also explained that the lack of sufficient consultation and review with employees during recent organizational restructuring was one of the main reasons for its establishment.

"The company's core business and the workplace of its members should not be operated for the interests of specific individuals, but with the top priority on the company's sustainable growth and the job security of its members," the union said.
