Firefighters saved a baby's life with quick thinking at a fire scene.

A fire broke out on the third floor of a multi-family house in Daejeon on the night of July 8.

A woman in her 20s from Vietnam called for help from the bathroom window of the building as flames soared, holding her one-year-old daughter in her arms.

Determining that there was not enough time to wait for an air mat to be set up, the firefighters decided to spread out a blanket to rescue the baby first.

Following the firefighters' instructions, the mother tossed the child out of the window, and the baby landed safely on the blanket.

The mother was also able to escape safely afterward using an air mat.

Three residents, including the mother and daughter, were taken to a hospital after inhaling smoke, but they are all reported to be in non-life-threatening condition.

The fire authorities fully extinguished the blaze 55 minutes after it began and are currently investigating the exact cause of the fire.
