A concrete retaining wall and steel structures have collapsed, with police tape cordoning off the area.

Yesterday (July 9), a villa retaining wall in Paengseong-eup, Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, collapsed due to torrential rain. Seven residents from five households were evacuated to a nearby senior citizens' center.

In Siheung, Gyeonggi Province, the Anhyeon Intersection was submerged, leaving four vehicles stranded and four people requiring rescue.

[Official from Siheung Fire Station, Gyeonggi Province: The initial report stated that two people were inside a vehicle and that water was rising. When we arrived, we found other vehicles were also stranded, so it appears we rescued more people.]

In Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, a factory ceiling collapsed. In southern Gyeonggi Province alone, over 220 reports of rain-related damage were filed yesterday.

For a brief period during the day, a flooding advisory was issued for Dorimcheon Stream in Seoul for the first time this year.

At the time, heavy rain warnings were in effect for the southwestern and northwestern parts of Seoul, including Gwanak-gu, Eunpyeong-gu, Mapo-gu, and Jongno-gu.

As the rain stopped and the heavy rain alerts were lifted, the flooding advisory was also lifted after approximately two and a half hours.

Due to this rainfall, one person is reported missing nationwide, and the number of people evacuated to temporary housing facilities has reached over 750.

Damage to facilities was recorded at 451 cases, including 70 roads and underpasses being submerged and 23 homes flooded.

Heavy rain accompanied by gusts, thunder, and lightning is expected to continue, mainly in the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon Province, until this afternoon. Extra caution is advised to prevent safety accidents.
