Amid the resumption of armed conflict between the United States and Iran, air raid sirens were triggered in Jordan, outside the Gulf region, due to missiles launched from Iran.

According to Jordan's state-run news agency on July 9 (local time), air raid sirens sounded across the country as missiles fired from Iran entered Jordanian airspace.

Mohammad Momani, Jordan's Minister of Government Communications and government spokesperson, stated, "As missiles launched from Iran violated Jordanian airspace, the Public Security Directorate issued an air raid alert and immediately responded to the threat by intercepting the missiles."

The agency reported that a total of eight missiles were intercepted that day, and there were no reports of casualties or property damage.

Minister Momani urged citizens to "strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by relevant authorities and verify information only through official sources," while strongly calling for restraint regarding the spread of fake news and false information.

Jordanian state broadcaster Al-Mamlaka and other outlets reported that the target of the Iranian attack appeared to be U.S. military bases within Jordan.

U.S. military facilities in Jordan include the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in the north-central region.

Following U.S. airstrikes in response to attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, Iran has been carrying out retaliatory strikes primarily against U.S. military bases in Gulf nations, such as Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar.
