Landslide advisories have been issued for four cities in Gyeonggi Province as nearly 200mm of rain fell across the region between July 8 and 9.
According to the Gyeonggi Provincial Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, as of 11:00 a.m. today (July 9), heavy rain warnings are in effect for four cities: Anseong, Pyeongtaek, Hwaseong, and Siheung. Heavy rain advisories have been issued for 11 other cities, including Icheon, Yongin, Yeoju, Osan, Suwon, Gwacheon, Bucheon, Ansan, Anyang, Gunpo, and Uiwang.
In particular, landslide advisories are currently in effect for four cities: Yeoju, Icheon, Anseong, and Pyeongtaek.
Anseong recorded the highest cumulative rainfall in the province at 187mm, with a peak hourly precipitation rate of 66mm.
In preparation for rising water levels, Gyeonggi Province has closed the Soyo riverside road in Dongcheon, 2,094 riverside walking paths, and 7 riverside parking lots.
Authorities have also carried out 32 operations to remove fallen trees and provide drainage support.
Previously, Gyeonggi Province activated Level 1 of its emergency disaster and safety countermeasures headquarters at 5:00 a.m. on July 8 to prepare for potential rain damage.
Under the Level 1 emergency status, 35 officials from departments related to storm and flood damage—including the Natural Disaster Countermeasures Team, the River Management Division, and the Forest and Greenery Division—are on duty to monitor the situation in each city and county and provide on-site support.
