Heavy rain has been falling across the central region since last night (July 8) through this morning, forcing residents to evacuate and causing a series of facility damages. Train services have also been suspended in some sections passing through Sejong City.

Heavy rain is concentrated in the central region, including Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong Province, and North Chungcheong Province.
In Gyeryong, South Chungcheong Province, a very intense downpour reached 73mm per hour last night. Jang-dong in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, recorded over 220mm of rainfall, while Yanghwa-myeon in Buyeo-gun, South Chungcheong Province, saw more than 180mm.
With heavy rain warnings in effect across the Chungcheong region, reports of damage are emerging from various areas.
Starting at 6:50 a.m., regular train operations were suspended between Bugang Station and Seochang Station in Sejong City on the Gyeongbu Line.
KTX trains are operating normally.
Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) stated that it took preemptive safety measures due to the heavy rainfall.
The suspended trains include two Mugunghwa-ho trains from Daejeon to Seoul, one Saemaul-ho train from Daejeon to Seoul, two Mugunghwa-ho trains from Daejeon to Jecheon, and one Mugunghwa-ho train from Iksan to Yongsan.
Evacuations of residents in the Chungcheong region are also continuing.
The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters under the Ministry of the Interior and Safety reported that as of 11:00 p.m. last night, 140 residents in the Chungcheong and North Gyeongsang regions had evacuated due to risks such as landslides.
Facility damages have also been reported one after another.
A total of 45 cases of damage have been reported, including flooded homes, submerged greenhouses, and inundated farmland.
In Sejong, a road was partially closed for a time yesterday afternoon due to a landslide, and as of 5:00 a.m. today, 33 reports of water overflowing onto roads and fallen trees were received in Daejeon.
In Taean, Dangjin, and Asan in South Chungcheong Province, trees fell onto roads, and in Tancheon-myeon, Gongju, rainwater seeped into a nursing hospital.
No injuries have been reported so far due to this rainfall.
