Actor Kim Min-ha candidly shared her thoughts on her recent weight loss and changes in her appearance during an interview with BBC Korea.

In the interview released on July 8, Kim addressed her noticeably slimmer figure, stating, "Many people are talking about my appearance these days, and yes, I have lost some weight. I am very actively preparing for my next role." She emphasized, "This is not because of beauty standards, but purely a change for the character."

She particularly expressed satisfaction with her appearance, laughing as she said, "I am very satisfied with myself. Whatever my body looks like, I am very content with who I am. My figure is not important to me. I am a person who focuses solely on my role," sharing her personal philosophy.

Previously, Kim had also spoken about her weight loss process on a broadcast, saying, "I did not receive help from Wegovy or Mounjaro." She added, "I have been losing weight slowly over two years, starting from when I was filming the drama 'Taepung Sangsa.' I have lost about 16 to 17 kg since then, and I achieved this through eating one small meal a day and exercising."

The interview also covered the film "Hana Korea," which was released on July 8. "Hana Korea" depicts the process of a North Korean defector settling into South Korean society, and Kim plays the role of 'Hyesun,' a defector from Ryanggang Province.

Kim said, "Because it was a story based on true events, I felt a sense of responsibility to treat the characters more delicately and carefully." She continued, "The fact that the film features a lot of narration was also a big reason why I decided to appear in it." She added, "I didn't want to portray Hyesun simply as a North Korean defector. I wanted to express her as an ordinary person living in South Korea."

Regarding her preparation for the dialect, she worked with three coaches and stated, "The most important thing was to show how Hyesun's dialect changes little by little as she adapts to South Korean society. I wanted to express the process of getting used to a new environment."

She added, "We all live our lives struggling to adapt to new situations and new environments. I hope that those who watch the movie will think, 'I am also working really hard to adapt to this society.' Although the world can sometimes be chaotic and strange, I hope the audience can feel light and hope in the process of living their lives."

Meanwhile, "Hana Korea" was invited to the non-competitive section of the 30th Busan International Film Festival last year, where it won the Audience Award. The film was written and directed by Danish director Frederik Sølberg.
