A person has died after a vehicle traveling on an expressway crashed into a median barrier.

At approximately 1:10 a.m. today (July 9), a report was received that a passenger car had caught fire near the Baekjeon 1 Tunnel on the Gwangju-Daegu Expressway, heading toward Daegu, in Hamyang-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do.

An unidentified individual was found dead in the driver's seat.

Police believe the vehicle, which was traveling in the first lane, struck the median barrier, flipped over, and slid before catching fire. Authorities are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
