Amidst the armed conflict between the United States and Iran over the attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, a series of explosions were heard in parts of southern Iran, the semi-official Fars News Agency reported on July 8 (local time).
According to the report, several powerful explosions were heard in the key southern Iranian regions of Bandar Abbas and Sirik on the night of July 8.
The agency stated that some of these sounds were heard from the sea adjacent to the western coast of Sirik.
However, the report added that it has not yet been determined whether these explosions were caused by additional U.S. airstrikes, or if they occurred during the operation of Iranian air defense systems or mutual combat.
Previously, the U.S. military conducted airstrikes on several locations in southern Iran on the night of July 7 in response to the attacks on commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz. In retaliation, Iran launched missiles and drones targeting U.S. military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain.
