The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that it activated Level 1 of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) as of 12:40 p.m. today, following the issuance of heavy rain advisories for Sejong, North and South Chungcheong Provinces, and North Jeolla Province.

Head of the CDSCH Lee Sang-min (Minister of the Interior and Safety) instructed that, with the activation of the headquarters, emergency response systems by region and cooperation systems between relevant agencies must be thoroughly established, and that management should be fully focused on actual situations.

He also urged for strengthened monitoring of high-risk areas such as landslide-prone zones, steep slopes, coastal areas, riverbanks, campsites, and underpasses, and requested preemptive closures during dangerous weather conditions.

Furthermore, he ordered that risk information be disseminated rapidly using village broadcasting systems, disaster text messages, and resident evacuation support teams to ensure that resident evacuations are not delayed when risks are anticipated, and that preemptive evacuations be carried out.

The head of the CDSCH emphasized that residents should also frequently check weather information and guidance from authorities, including disaster text messages, and take special care for their safety by refraining from approaching high-risk areas such as coastal zones and riverbanks.
