
Lee Hyun, known as the first artist of Big Hit, has renewed his contract with Big Hit Music, extending a partnership that has spanned 19 years.
On July 8, Big Hit Music announced, "We have signed a contract renewal with Lee Hyun. It is highly meaningful to continue our journey with an artist who has been with the company since its early days. Based on the trust built over the past 19 years, we plan to actively support Lee Hyun's future activities."
Lee Hyun shared his thoughts, saying, "I have renewed my contract with Big Hit Music, which is my musical home and most reliable partner. As it has been until now, our decision is based on deep trust and mutual respect." He added, "I want to show fans who have been waiting for my music more frequent and active performances. I will become a singer who constantly communicates through music."
He further stated, "I am grateful to Big Hit Music for always standing by my side and to the fans who continue to send their unwavering love. Please look forward to and support my new journey with Big Hit Music."
Lee Hyun is recognized as the first artist of Big Hit, having started his trainee life when Big Hit Entertainment was first established in 2005.
He first formed a connection with Chairman Bang Si-hyuk when he worked on guide recordings and chorus sessions during Bang's time as a producer at JYP Entertainment, eventually growing into Big Hit's first artist. He debuted in 2007 as the leader of the co-ed group 8eight, and in 2010, he formed the duo Homme with Lee Chang-min of 2AM, achieving a hit with "I Was Able to Eat Well." He also received much love for his solo track "You Are the Best of My Life." In 2023, Lee Hyun released the digital single "Masquerade" through his alter ego project, MIDNATT.
Meanwhile, Big Hit Music is home to artists including Lee Hyun, BTS, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, and CORTIS.
