A man in his 20s, who was wanted for unpaid fines, was apprehended with the help of a citizen after fleeing from a police inspection.
According to the Busan Nambu Police Station on July 8, the incident occurred on June 23 at approximately 8:10 p.m. on a road in Daeyeon-dong, Nam-gu, when a delivery motorcycle driver, identified as A, suddenly fled while being questioned by a police officer.
After providing false personal information to the officer, A shook off the officer's hand and began to run away.
The chase continued for about 200 meters, and the pursuing officer was becoming exhausted.
The officer shouted "Catch him" to a citizen walking from the opposite direction. The citizen caught A in front of the Daeyeon Patrol Division of the Nambu Police Station and handed him over to the officer.
Police investigation revealed that A, a man in his 20s, was wanted for 7 million won in unpaid fines for violations of the Road Traffic Act, including driving a motorcycle without a license.
A police official stated, "The citizen who helped with the arrest left the scene immediately," adding, "We are deeply grateful to the brave citizen."
