An elderly person with dementia who went missing after leaving home has been found safe.

According to the Gangwon State Fire Headquarters yesterday (July 7), the 80-year-old, identified as A, was found by family members at 8:55 a.m. that day near a riverbank in Hanbando-myeon, Yeongwol-gun.

Previously, fire authorities and others had been conducting a search after receiving a report at 1:57 p.m. on July 4 that the whereabouts of A were unknown.

Although A sustained abrasions on their legs, there was no threat to their life.

Police believe that A, who suffered from dementia, lost their way after leaving home.
