President Lee Jae-myung, who is visiting Türkiye to attend the NATO summit, proposed a "Defense Industry Partnership 2.0" between South Korea and NATO, emphasizing the need to elevate their cooperation framework.
In his keynote speech at the NATO Defense Industry Forum, President Lee suggested moving beyond the current cooperation model of simply trading weapon systems toward a collaborative approach that includes joint research, production, and operation.
On the second day of his trip, President Lee also plans to hold meetings with NATO leaders to solidify a bridgehead for entering the defense market.
