As the final three-game series of the first half gets underway in Daegu, a preview of the Korean Series between first-place LG and second-place Samsung has begun, with both teams' foreign aces, LG's Tolhurst and Samsung's Jurado, facing off in the opening game.

LG took the early initiative.

In the bottom of the second inning, with two outs and runners on first and third, Tolhurst used his reflexes to snag a bullet-like hit from Kim Young-woong, preventing a run. Then, in the fourth inning with one out and a runner on first, Park Dong-won blasted a two-run homer over the left-field fence to take the lead.

Samsung, however, fought back.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, with one out and runners on first and second, Koo Ja-wook opened the scoring for Samsung with an RBI single, and Choi Hyeong-woo followed with an RBI double that sailed over the third baseman's head to tie the game.

Then, during Ryu Ji-hyuk's infield hit, an error by the LG defense allowed both Koo Ja-wook and Choi Hyeong-woo to score. As of the sixth inning, Samsung is leading 4 to 2.
