The Minnesota Twins of Major League Baseball (MLB) have completed the preliminary steps to add right-handed pitcher Go Woo-suk (28) to their big league roster.
Aaron Gleeman, a Minnesota beat writer for The Athletic, reported on his social media today (July 7) that "the Twins have optioned right-hander Cody Laweryson to Triple-A St. Paul to clear a roster and bullpen spot for Go Woo-suk."
He added, "The Twins acquired Go from the Detroit Tigers in a cash trade, and per the terms of the trade, the club was required to add him to the 26-man roster."
While the Minnesota organization has not yet officially announced Go's registration to the 26-man roster, the demotion of Laweryson to Triple-A suggests that the roster adjustment is imminent.
Go is expected to wear a Minnesota uniform starting with the home game against the Cleveland Guardians, which will be held tomorrow at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Go, who first challenged himself in MLB after signing with the San Diego Padres in 2024, went through a difficult path, spending two seasons in the minor leagues while moving through the Miami Marlins and the Detroit Tigers.
After a period of determination, he successfully rebounded this season with a 3-1 record and a 1.96 ERA in 27 minor league games, leading to his call-up by Minnesota, which was in desperate need of bullpen reinforcement.
