When police first discovered Jang Yoon-gi's vehicle, it contained cable ties, and the scene was recorded on video. This is key evidence that could prove charges of kidnapping and sexual assault, as the items appear intended for binding the victim. It has been confirmed that the investigation team leader, who was arrested yesterday (July 6), attempted to delete or conceal this video.

On the morning of May 5, 11 hours after the murder of a high school girl in Gwangju, the Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station investigation team conducted an emergency search of the SUV Jang Yoon-gi used to stalk the victim and filmed the interior of the vehicle.
The 10-minute video also captured the cable ties, which are suspected to be tools used in Jang's crime.
Although this was key evidence that could be suspected as tools for kidnapping or binding the victim for sexual assault, it was found that the police investigation team omitted any mention of the cable ties when they transferred the case to the prosecution on May 14, attaching only a few photos of the vehicle search.
As suspicions of collusion between Jang Yoon-gi's father and the police recently became a controversy, SBS confirmed that Inspector A ordered the police officer who filmed the scene to delete the video.
The police only transferred the relevant records and the video to the prosecution after they arrested Inspector A.
The key evidence that could prove the charges of murder with the intent of kidnapping and sexual assault only came to light two months after the incident occurred and one month after Jang Yoon-gi was indicted.
Until Inspector A was arrested following the emergence of allegations of collusion between Jang Yoon-gi's father, an active-duty police officer in the Gwangju area, and the police investigation team, the prosecution was unaware of the existence of this video.
The prosecution has begun reviewing full-scale investigations, including compulsory investigations, regarding the police investigation team's leak of investigation information to Jang Yoon-gi's father.
