President Lee Jae-myung will carry out a series of diplomatic engagements from today (July 7) through July 11, including attending the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit in Türkiye and paying a state visit to Mongolia.

At the invitation of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, President Lee will first attend the NATO summit held in Ankara for two days starting today.

Upon arriving in Ankara this afternoon, he is scheduled to hold small-group meetings with Secretary General Rutte and representatives from the Indo-Pacific partner nations (IP4), including Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.

President Lee will then attend the NATO Defense Industry Forum, one of the official events of the summit, where he will deliver a keynote speech during a session titled "Shared Values, Stronger Industrial Base."

In the evening, he will attend an official welcoming dinner hosted by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the First Lady.

On July 8, the second day of his visit to Türkiye, President Lee is expected to hold bilateral meetings with countries that have potential for cooperation in sectors such as the defense industry.

The Presidential Office stated that it aims to use President Lee's visit to the NATO summit as a bridgehead for entering the world's largest defense market.

Following his time in Türkiye, President Lee will pay a state visit to Mongolia at the invitation of Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh.

This marks the first state visit to Mongolia by a South Korean president in 15 years.

President Lee will arrive in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on July 9 to hold a summit with President Khürelsükh. He plans to announce the outcomes of the meeting through an exchange of agreements and memorandums of understanding (MOU), followed by a joint press conference.

The two leaders will also issue a joint declaration titled "The Golden Age of Korea-Mongolia Relations," which outlines a future vision for bilateral ties.

That same evening, President Lee will deliver a keynote speech at the Korea-Mongolia Business Forum, where government and business officials from both countries will discuss economic cooperation plans.

On July 10, he will visit the memorial hall for patriot Lee Tae-joon, who provided medical care and supported the independence movement in Mongolia, before attending a luncheon with Korean residents in the country.

On July 11, the final day of his trip, President Lee will attend the opening ceremony of the Naadam Festival, Mongolia's largest national holiday, as a guest of honor alongside President Khürelsükh before returning home.
