U.S. President Donald Trump said on July 6 (local time) that the end of the Russia-Ukraine war is "closer than people think."

President Trump made the remarks while hosting the official launch event for the "Trump Account" at the White House, stating, "I think he (Russian President Vladimir Putin) feels the pressure. He wants to end this, and Ukraine wants to end this too."

He added, "Negotiations are currently underway, so let's see if we can bring this to an end."

President Trump emphasized that he would discuss the Ukraine war at the NATO summit scheduled for July 7–8 in Ankara, Turkey, stating, "I believe we can end this war."

President Trump is scheduled to depart for Turkey on the evening of July 6 (U.S. Eastern Time) and will hold a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on July 8.

The "Trump Account," which the President launched during the event, is a tax-deferred savings and investment program designed to help American children accumulate a lump sum by the time they reach adulthood.

Notably, the Trump administration has decided to provide a one-time payment of 1,000 dollars (approximately 1.53 million won) to every American child born during President Trump's second term.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury officially launched the account on July 4, the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, by making the application for account opening available on major mobile app stores.

President Trump said, "On Saturday, July 4, our administration deposited a one-time seed fund of 1,000 dollars into the Trump Accounts of more than 500,000 American children," adding, "This is a significant amount, and in the future, millions more children will receive additional funding from generous donors like Michael and Susan Dell."

Michael and Susan Dell previously donated 6.25 billion dollars to the program and were in attendance at the event.

Furthermore, ahead of the November midterm elections, President Trump repeatedly attacked the democratic socialists rising within the opposition Democratic Party, labeling them as "communists."

He stated, "Unlike the communist threat we see often these days, this program will instill entrepreneurship in children," adding, "They call themselves democratic socialists, but they are communists. They want to destroy our country, and we will not let that happen."
