The Paichai High School baseball team, which caused controversy due to regional discriminatory cheering, visited Gwangju in person today to offer their apologies.

In an apology, the captain of the Paichai High School baseball team stated, "We caused great pain to the Gwangju Jeil High School team, their parents, and the citizens of Gwangju through the inappropriate remarks and behavior of our players during the Blue Dragon Flag tournament at Mokdong Baseball Stadium on June 29."

The captain added, "Beyond baseball, we have learned once again how important character and attitude are in life," and stated, "All of the players are deeply reflecting on their actions."

The head coach of the Paichai High School baseball team also stated in an apology, "The regional discriminatory cheering by the student athletes toward Gwangju Jeil High School is a mistake that cannot be excused by anything," adding, "As a leader who should guide these students, my responsibility is the greatest."

The coach continued, "I am well aware that saying we failed to stop the inappropriate cheering in time because we were focused only on winning or losing is nothing more than an excuse," and stated, "I will fulfill my responsibilities as a leader to ensure that such an incident never happens again."

The Paichai High School team and coaching staff visited Gwangju Jeil High School at 3:00 PM today to apologize in person and will hold a joint memorial service at the May 18th National Cemetery.
