Yoon Do-young, a top prospect for Brighton & Hove Albion of the English Premier League (EPL), is heading to German second-division club 1. FC Magdeburg on a loan deal.
Brighton and Magdeburg officially announced on their websites today (July 6) that Yoon will be joining the German club on a one-season loan.
Yoon, who left K League 1 side Daejeon Hana Citizen to join Brighton in March last year, spent last season on loan in the Netherlands to adapt to European football.
During the first half of the season, he made only 7 appearances in all competitions, including 6 league matches (1 goal) in the Dutch Eredivisie (first division), before returning to Brighton early. For the second half of the season, he moved to FC Dordrecht in the Dutch second division, where he played 15 matches (1 goal, 5 assists).
Through the club, Yoon expressed his thoughts on joining, saying, "I am very happy to be playing for Magdeburg. From the beginning, the club's leadership showed great trust in me and presented a clear blueprint for my development."
He added, "After finishing my time in the Netherlands, it was important for me to consistently get on the pitch and take the next step in my career. I want to join the training camp as soon as possible to work with my teammates and contribute to a successful season for the team."
