Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants dramatically extended his hitting streak to four games with two outs in the ninth inning.
Lee started as the fifth hitter and right fielder in an away game against the Colorado Rockies in the 2026 Major League Baseball (MLB) regular season, held at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado, on July 6. He recorded one hit in five at-bats.
Following today's game, Lee's batting average slightly dipped to .315 (97 hits in 307 at-bats).
After grounding out in the second, fourth, and fifth innings and flying out in the seventh, Lee faced his final at-bat with two outs and no runners on base, with his team trailing 6-7.
He hit a clean single to center field off Jordan Romano, giving his team one last chance before being replaced by pinch runner Jonah Cox.
Although Cox successfully stole second base, Willie Adames struck out swinging, and San Francisco lost the game 6-7.
San Francisco had taken the lead behind two home runs from Rafael Devers, but allowed a comeback after giving up a three-run homer to Kyle Karros in the bottom of the eighth inning.
With this loss, the gap between San Francisco and the Colorado Rockies, who are at the bottom of the National League West, has narrowed to one game.
