The Blue House has announced plans to establish a "Future Response Fund" by utilizing additional tax revenue generated from the semiconductor boom. The fund is intended not only to support the "three mega projects" announced last month but also to address housing and employment issues for the 2030 generation and to assist with business startups.
Reporter Kang Min-u has the story.

This was the first high-level meeting between the ruling party, the government, and the Blue House in three months, since April.
Blue House Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik stated, "We are at a critical juncture that will determine the future of the Republic of Korea," and added, "We will establish a Future Response Fund to utilize additional tax revenue as a source of investment."
[Kang Hoon-sik/Blue House Chief of Staff: We must not spend the 'additional tax revenue' generated from the semiconductor boom and other factors in vain. We will make bold investments in the future of the Republic of Korea, including support for the 'three mega projects,' the creation of future growth engines, and housing, startup, and job support for young people in their 20s and 30s.]
Various discussions have been ongoing within the ruling bloc regarding how to utilize the increase in tax revenue, which is expected to exceed 40 trillion won this year.
Recently, the term "additional tax revenue" has begun to be used instead of "excess tax revenue."
[President Lee Jae-myung (on the 2nd): Please ensure that we make every effort to efficiently utilize the 'additional tax revenue' to create stable investment resources for future generations.]
The Blue House has now proposed the plan to create a new fund.
The "Future Response Fund" is expected to be used for building infrastructure to support the "three mega projects."
At today's (July 5) meeting, the ruling party announced it would consider elevating the "Three Mega Projects Task Force" to a committee to provide detailed support for legislation and budgeting.
[Han Byung-do/Acting Leader and Floor Leader of the Democratic Party: I would like to say that we are also considering a plan for the party leader or floor leader to directly chair the committee to push the work forward with speed.]
The government pledged to achieve concrete results.
[Han Seong-sook/Prime Minister: If the party, government, and Blue House all become one team, and if the private sector joins us as one team, I believe we will see truly great results.]
President Lee Jae-myung is scheduled to preside over a public-private joint meeting at the Blue House tomorrow, one week after the announcement of the "three mega projects," with plans to accelerate the implementation of the large-scale investment plan.
