It has been revealed that the police investigation team handling the case of Jang Yoon-gi, who was indicted on charges of raping and murdering a high school girl in Gwangju, leaked investigation details to the suspect's father, an active-duty police officer in the Gwangju region.
According to SBS reporting, the investigation team at the Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station, which was handling the case, contacted Jang's father, identified as Inspector Jang, by phone on the morning of May 5, shortly after Jang Yoon-gi was taken into emergency custody. The team reportedly informed the father of the progress of the investigation, stating that they "planned to apply for an arrest warrant" for his son.
The investigation team subsequently obtained an arrest warrant for Jang Yoon-gi on May 7, two days after the incident occurred on the early morning of May 5.
This indicates that the investigation team shared specific details regarding the status of the investigation with the suspect's side.
It was previously revealed that the police investigation team had provided Inspector Jang with the address and door lock passcode to Jang Yoon-gi's home. Inspector Jang then used this information to enter the residence and destroy key evidence related to the crime, including a life-sized sex doll.
