Police have launched an investigation after a man in his 50s, who had been subject to a restraining order following reports of dating violence, tracked down and killed his former partner.

According to the Seongnam Jungwon Police Station in Gyeonggi Province, a man in his 50s, identified as A, stabbed a woman in her 60s, identified as B, with a weapon on a street in Sangdaewon-dong, Jungwon-gu, Seongnam, at approximately 3:00 a.m. today (July 5).

B was transported to a hospital but later died.

A attempted self-harm immediately after the crime and is currently undergoing surgery at a hospital.

It was determined that A had waited for B to finish work before committing the crime. The two had been in a relationship for about four years until recently.

Police plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the crime once A recovers.
