A Korean Air passenger flight scheduled to travel from Istanbul, Turkey, to Incheon has been delayed by nearly 24 hours due to a maintenance issue.
According to Korean Air on July 5, a maintenance defect was discovered in flight KE956 (B787-9), which was scheduled to depart from Istanbul for Incheon at 9:20 p.m. local time on July 4 (3:20 a.m. KST on July 5).
The issue was reportedly related to the braking system.
There were 276 passengers scheduled to board the flight.
As the maintenance was expected to take a significant amount of time, Korean Air decided to deploy a replacement aircraft from Incheon to ensure safe operations.
The replacement flight is scheduled to depart at 9:20 p.m. local time on July 5.
Korean Air stated that it has provided hotel accommodations and meal vouchers to the passengers affected by the delay.
