An 80-year-old man has been arrested for attempting to murder an employee and a customer at a hair salon with a weapon.
The Tongyeong Branch of the Changwon District Court issued an arrest warrant for the suspect, identified as A, on Saturday (July 4) following a pre-arrest interrogation, stating that there is a risk of flight.
A is accused of entering a hair salon in Geoje around 11:25 a.m. on July 2 and attacking a female employee in her 30s and a male customer in his 40s with a weapon he had prepared in advance.
Both victims were transported to a hospital for treatment, and it is reported that their lives are not currently in danger.
Police apprehended A at the scene as a suspect caught in the act. During the investigation, police applied charges of attempted murder, concluding that he had wielded the weapon with the intent to kill.
A claimed to police that he had ingested poison after committing the crime, but blood tests at the hospital confirmed his statement to be false.
Police plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident, including the relationship between A and the victims and the motive for the crime.
