As the stationary front moves northward again, monsoon rain is falling, primarily in Jeju.

This rain is expected to expand across the entire country over the weekend.

By tomorrow night (July 4), rain clouds will reach the southern parts of the Chungcheong region, and from the afternoon to the night of the day after tomorrow (July 5), monsoon rain is expected to begin in the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon-do.

Let us take a look at the expected rainfall for the weekend, divided into Saturday and Sunday.

First, until tomorrow morning, heavy rain is expected mainly in Jeju and the southern parts of Jeollanam-do.

Currently, a heavy rain warning is in effect for Jeju. Up to 150mm or more of heavy rain is expected in the mountainous regions of Jeju, and up to 80mm in Jeju and the southern parts of Jeollanam-do.

On Sunday, 30 to 80mm of rain is expected in Jeollanam-do, and 20 to 60mm in other southern regions and Chungcheong-do. In the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon-do, where the rain will start later, about 5 to 20mm of rain is expected.

Looking at the satellite imagery, the stationary front is currently active near Jeju, which will lead to heavy downpours overnight.

Tomorrow, the stationary front will move slightly southward between the morning and afternoon, causing the rain to mostly subside, before it begins in earnest again from the night.

In the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon-do, there will be sunshine between the clouds, and some areas may experience rain showers.

Tomorrow, daytime temperatures in the central regions will exceed 30°C (86°F), making it hot.

Heavy rain is expected to continue nationwide until early next week.

Please take necessary precautions to prevent any rain-related damage.
