Additional suspicious handling of the case by the police has been uncovered during the prosecution's investigation. The police explained that they did not need to seize the "real doll" discarded by the father of Jang Yoon-gi because they had already collected DNA samples and requested a forensic analysis. However, it has been confirmed that when the case was referred to the prosecution, the report containing these forensic results was not included.
Reporter Jeon Yeonnam has the story.

The investigation team at Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station arrested Jang Yoon-gi on the morning of May 5 on charges of murdering the late Lee Chae-won. Immediately following the arrest, they conducted searches of his residence and vehicle to secure evidence, including the murder weapon.
During this process, they discovered two "real dolls" but did not seize the physical items. Three days later, Jang's father, a police inspector surnamed Jang, visited his son's home and disposed of them.
As controversy grew over the alleged destruction of evidence related to Jang Yoon-gi's sex crimes following an exclusive SBS report on July 1, the police explained that there was no need to seize the items because the forensic team had already sufficiently collected DNA from the dolls.
They also emphasized that they had requested a DNA analysis from the National Forensic Service and had even received a report.
However, it was confirmed that the police did not include the report containing the DNA analysis results when they referred the case to the prosecution.
They omitted a key piece of evidence that could have helped investigate and uncover Jang Yoon-gi's intent to commit sexual violence.
It is reported that the document contained not only the analysis of the "real dolls" but also the genetic analysis results from Jang Yoon-gi's vehicle and personal belongings.
The prosecution, which was unaware of the report's existence, reportedly ordered the investigation team to submit the relevant records yesterday, July 2.
In response, the police explained, "The forensic report was omitted due to an issue with our internal system," adding, "We became aware of the omission and sent it to the prosecution yesterday."
Regarding the exact circumstances of the omission, they added that an internal inspection is currently underway.
