The K-Football Innovation Committee, co-chaired by Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Choi Hwi-young and FIFA committee member Park Ji-sung, is set to launch.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that the committee will hold its inaugural meeting on July 6 at the Olympic Parktel in Songpa-gu, Seoul.

The committee will include co-chairs Choi Hwi-young and Park Ji-sung, as well as members from the sports community and various experts, including commentator Lee Young-pyo, commentator Park Joo-ho, Korean Sport & Olympic Committee President Yoo Seung-min, Korea Football Association Executive Director Kim Seung-hee, K League Secretary General Cho Yeon-sang, lawyer Yoo Young-geun, and Pukyong National University professor Kim Dae-hee.

In response to calls for football reform raised in the wake of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the committee plans to comprehensively discuss key tasks to enhance the future competitiveness of South Korean football, such as K-football governance, youth player development, and the introduction of advanced technological systems.

Minister Choi Hwi-young has recently met with various football officials and experts to share these perspectives and gather opinions.

Co-chair Park Ji-sung stated, "Through this innovation committee, I will incorporate the various concerns discussed in the field to design the direction South Korean football should take and map out a future where K-football can grow sustainably."

Co-chair Choi Hwi-young said, "The temporary committee will conduct comprehensive discussions on major tasks," adding, "We will provide strong support so that a vision for South Korean football can be established and implemented in the field, centered around trusted football figures."
