Estimated credit and debit card payments at Starbucks in June have dropped by more than 20 billion won compared to the previous month.

The number of monthly active users on the Starbucks app also decreased by approximately 1.13 million within a single month.

According to Mobile Index, an AI data tech firm, on July 3, the estimated credit and debit card payment volume for Starbucks in June was recorded at 100.39 billion won.

This figure is a decrease of approximately 20.8 billion won from the 121.19 billion won recorded in May.

This marks the lowest monthly payment volume not only for this year but also over the past eight months, dating back to November of last year.

Starbucks' monthly payment volume reached 147.4 billion won in November last year and fluctuated thereafter, but the decline has accelerated since May.

In particular, the payment volume in June represents a decrease of approximately 33.9 billion won compared to 134.3 billion won in April of this year.

The number of Starbucks app users has also seen a sharp decline.

The number of monthly active users on the Starbucks app fell from 8.19 million in May to 7.06 million in June, a decrease of 1,129,650 users.

This represents a 13.8 percent drop in the number of users within one month.

Starbucks' market share in terms of users among food and beverage brand and membership apps also fell by 5.4 percentage points, from 47.7 percent in May to 42.3 percent in June.

However, these payment figures are estimates based on domestic credit and debit card transactions and do not include payments made via corporate bank transfers, cash, gift certificates, simple payment services, or in-app payments.

Previously, Starbucks Korea sparked controversy after using terms such as "Tank Day" during a tumbler discount promotion on May 18, the anniversary of the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement.
