Director Na Hong-jin’s new film HOPE has unveiled a fresh look at its main characters, captured through the lens of cinematographer Hong Kyung-pyo.
The three behind-the-scenes character posters released today are special designs featuring photography taken directly by cinematographer Hong Kyung-pyo. The images, which show Hwang Jung-min (playing Beom-seok) and Jung Hoyeon (playing Seong-ae) focused on set, capture the intense presence of actors fully immersed in their roles.

Another poster, featuring Zo In-sung (playing Seong-gi) and a group of young men leaning against a truck against the backdrop of a dense forest, heightens anticipation for the film with the unique look and color palette of HOPE. Notably, the behind-the-scenes character posters stand out for their bold use of black-and-white photography and a free, original style that includes varied title designs for each character.
The three additional character posters also released today capture the urgent moments of the three individuals trying to protect Hopo Port. Through these posters, viewers can see Beom-seok, the police substation chief trying to protect residents from a presence that has appeared in the village; Seong-ae, a police officer aiming a gun at those who have crossed the line; and Seong-gi, a young man heading into the mountains to chase the monster that attacked the village.

Unlike traditional movie posters, these six character posters—completed through the bold use of behind-the-scenes cuts and character stills—offer audiences a new kind of enjoyment, allowing them to imagine scenes from the film and feel the atmosphere of the set.
HOPE tells the story that begins when Beom-seok, the chief of a police substation located in the Demilitarized Zone, hears news from local youths that a tiger has appeared, leading the entire village into a state of emergency as they face an unbelievable reality. The film is set to be released on July 15.
