As the stationary front has temporarily retreated, the monsoon rain has mostly subsided today.
However, as cold air from the upper atmosphere has moved downward, causing atmospheric instability, showers are falling in various inland areas today, July 2.
Tomorrow, there is a forecast for showers in various parts of the central region.
Meanwhile, starting tomorrow afternoon, the monsoon front will move northward again, beginning with the Jeju region, where rain is expected. By Saturday, the rain will expand to the southern parts of the Chungcheong region.
From Sunday, rain is forecast for most parts of the country.
Regarding the expected rainfall for Saturday:
Up to 120mm or more is expected in the mountainous areas of Jeju, and up to 80mm in Jeju and the southern parts of South Jeolla Province.
While the exact rainfall amounts for the following days have not yet been determined, as a northern pressure trough will accompany the stationary front, heavy rain at a level that could trigger heavy rain warnings is expected nationwide between Sunday and next Tuesday, July 7.
Please stay tuned for further weather updates.
Looking at the satellite imagery, you can see the stationary front has moved down to the waters south of Jeju, with gray, low-level clouds covering the central region.
The sky will remain cloudy tomorrow, but daytime temperatures will rise to near 30°C (86°F), making it feel hot.
While daytime temperatures in Seoul will exceed 30°C (86°F) until Saturday, the daytime heat is expected to ease next week as monsoon rain falls frequently.
