President Lee Jae-myung attended the National Briefing on the Development Vision for Advanced Industries in the Chungcheong Region, held at the Samsung Display Asan Campus 2 in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, today (July 2).

President Lee expressed his gratitude to the business leaders who decided on large-scale investments in the Chungcheong region, stating, "On behalf of the people, I thank you for your bold decision," and reaffirmed his commitment to providing active support.

Prior to his remarks, Lee Cheong, President of Samsung Display, Kwak Noh-jung, CEO and President of SK Hynix, and Yoo Young-ho, CEO of Celltrion Pharm, announced individual corporate investment plans for the Chungcheong region totaling 392 trillion won.

Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jeong-gwan unveiled the strategy for fostering next-generation advanced industries in the Chungcheong region.

Following the announcements, representatives from the investing companies, government ministries, and local governments signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the development of advanced industries in the Chungcheong region.

According to a written briefing by Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Ahn Gwi-ryeong, President Lee toured an exhibition of products and technologies prepared by Samsung alongside Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, Vice Chairman Jun Young-hyun, and President Lee Cheong, offering words of encouragement to the staff.

President Lee received briefings on future display, HBM, advanced packaging, and battery technologies from Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, and Samsung SDI, and personally tested some of the products while asking questions.

While examining a display featuring flexible organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology, he remarked, "The era I once imagined has become reality." Upon hearing an explanation about energy storage systems (ESS), he emphasized, "This is a new core industry."

When Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik remarked that "lawmakers will use this a lot" after hearing about a privacy display that prevents the screen from being seen from the side, President Lee drew laughter by responding, "Because of this, I couldn't even use my mobile phone on the plenary floor."
