President Lee Jae-myung ordered on July 2 regarding preparations for the monsoon season, stating, "When it comes to public safety, being overly cautious is 100 times better than being insufficient," and added, "Please do your utmost to ensure that citizens' lives are not threatened by complacent perceptions and responses."

During the meeting of senior secretaries at the Blue House today, President Lee said, "The full-scale monsoon season begins this week. A July monsoon is unusual, and there are concerns about extreme rainfall, such as 'Beyond Evil' downpours," and made these remarks.

President Lee urged, "The role of local governments is particularly important," adding, "As many local governments are in the early stages of their terms and have newly replaced heads, there is a risk of negligence in responding to emergency situations, so special attention must be paid."

He continued by requesting, "All local governments must meticulously manage their disaster response systems and conduct thorough, preemptive inspections of vulnerable facilities, such as landslide-prone areas, semi-basement residences, aging facilities, and construction sites."

In particular, he emphasized, "I ask the officials and commanders in charge to perform their duties thoroughly, if only for their own sake."
