The film THE EYES, starring actor Shin Mina, has achieved a remarkable feat by climbing to the top of the box office in its second week of release.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for movie theater admissions on July 2, THE EYES took the number one spot at the box office by drawing 49,098 viewers nationwide on July 1. The cumulative number of viewers has reached 432,137.

Toy Story 5, which had held the top spot at the box office for the past 14 days, was pushed down to second place by the surge of THE EYES.

THE EYES is a suspense thriller about Seo-jin, who is gradually losing her sight due to a hereditary disease, as she uncovers the truth behind the suspicious death of her twin sibling. The film stars Shin Mina and Kim Nam-hee and is directed by Yeom Ji-ho, who previously gained attention for the film Next Door Neighbors.

Although the film started in the second or third position during its initial release, positive word-of-mouth paved the way for this reversal. It is particularly encouraging that the film achieved this upset based solely on the strength of the work itself, despite having fewer screens and fewer total screenings than Toy Story 5.
