The transfer of national football team midfielder Lee Kang-in to Atletico Madrid appears to be in its final stages.

Following reports from Spanish media that a transfer is imminent, Paris Saint-Germain has also excluded Lee from its squad list.

Just one day after Lee returned home following the national team's elimination from the group stage of the North and Central America World Cup, Spanish media reported that "Atletico Madrid has finalized the signing of Lee Kang-in."

Paris Saint-Germain also omitted Lee, who wears jersey number 19, from the new season squad list published on its official website.

With reports having emerged during the World Cup that personal terms had been agreed upon, it appears that only the official announcement of the signing remains.

Lee, who moved to Paris in 2023 after stints with Spain's Valencia and Mallorca, enjoyed the thrill of winning the UEFA Champions League twice. However, he has been pursuing a transfer after falling behind in the competition for a starting spot last season.

As Lee enters the final stages of his move to Atletico, his return to Spain after three years has become highly likely.
