Around 9:40 p.m. today (July 1), a passenger car driven by a man in his 30s struck a middle school student who was waiting for a signal at a crosswalk at Sodam Intersection in Sodam-dong, Sejong City.

After the collision, the vehicle came to a stop after crashing into a sidewalk guardrail.

The victim was conscious when rescued and has been transported to a hospital for treatment.

Police arrested the driver at the scene, and a breathalyzer test confirmed that his blood alcohol level was high enough to warrant the revocation of his driver's license.

The police are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
